Construction industry output expected to hit €21bn this year

The construction industry out put is expected to rise to €21bn this year, this is still 55% of the highest output level which was at its peak in 2007. The increase from the first quarter of this year amounting to 7.4%
With a total of 7,909 homes being built in the first half of this year, 30% higher than in the same period of the previous year. It still represents a figure which is far below the required levels however.

With the Irish economy continuing to grow along with the construction sector, GDP growth level of 4.7% have been estimated. This will have Ireland as the fastest growing economy within the EU at rates almost twice that of the Eurozone average
