Irish firm awarded joint venture for construction of runway at Dublin Airport

The DAA has awarded its main contract for the construction of its new 320 million euro runway to a Roadbridge and FCC Construccion, a joint Irish-Spanish venture. The companies were announced as the winners of the bid to build the 3.1km runway. Construction on the project is expected to get under way immediately with its completion scheduled in the first half of 2021.
The contract is to include the construction of 306,000 square metres of runaway and taxiways, with a 6km’s of internal airport roads as well as installing new drainage and pollution controls. In addition there is 7.5km of electrical cable to laid and 2,000 further runway and taxiway lights.
