150 jobs to be added in Castlebar
US based Meissner Filtration Products is to open it’s first manufacturing facility outside of the US in Ireland. The new manufacturing facility is planned to add 150 jobs in its site in Castlebar, Mayo.
The Life Sciences Group plans to be operational by the first quarter of 2020 with it taking a new 34,000 sqf building which was constructed by the IDA and expanding it to reach a total of 100,000. The semi-state body which promotes foreign directs investment into Ireland built the facility as part of its 5 year into regional properties throughout Ireland.
Cleanroom facilities for biotech and pharma groups
To allow the expansion the Life Sciences Group has purchased the land adjacent to allow the group to more than triple the current facilities size.
It has plans to install substantial cleanroom facilities with in the existing buildings to allow the manufacture of SUS (single-use systems).
These systems are to support the organisations biotech and pharmaceutical client base.
It adds to the list of life sciences groups based in Mayo companies such as Allergan and Hollister already having operation there.
